McMINNVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 34-year-old man was shot and killed in an officer-involved shooting at a McMinnville home early Friday morning.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said it’s investigating the overnight shooting that took place at Chestnut Ridge Road home.

According to a release, authorities were called to the home in an attempt to arrest Clifford Keller on several outstanding warrants.

The TBI said Keller was out of jail on a furlough and recently failed to report back to jail when ordered.

During an early morning exchange with Keller, the situation escalated when the 34-year-old reportedly threatened a police patrol dog that located him in a camper. Authorities said Keller fired a shot from inside the camper and later brandished a weapon in the direction of officers.

In spite of verbal orders to drop the weapon when approaching officers, the TBI reported Keller did not comply. At least one officer fired his service weapon, striking Keller, who died at the scene.

No officers were injured.

The TBI is continuing its investigation. Additional information was not released.
