Metro police investigate North Nashville shooting; School on lockdown

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A shooting investigation was underway Tuesday afternoon in North Nashville.

Metro police are on the scene at 16th Avenue North and Wheless Street, not far from Robert Churchwell Museum Magnet Elementary.

The school was placed on lockdown as a precaution, which is standard procedure.

An eye witness told News 2 she saw a man dressed in black near the front of the school. She said he fired three shots and chased a woman into a nearby home. Police have yet to confirm those details.

No further information on the shooting was immediately released. It’s not yet known if anyone was injured.
