CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – After breaking ground in 2014, the new Hankook tire plant in Clarksville is now open.

The South Korean tire maker invested $800 million building the state of the art facility. The company recently moved its North American headquarters to downtown Nashville.

The new Clarksville plant is expected to create around 1,800 jobs.

Gov. Bill Haslam, who was fresh off a trade mission to drum up more business from Asia, attended Tuesday’s grand opening. It is the first Hankook plant to open in the United States.
