NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A fire heavily damaged a home in North Nashville early Wednesday morning.
It happened at a two-story home in the 700 block of Roman Drive around 2:45 a.m.
Five people live at the home but only three were there when the fire began.
Homeowner Gary Scales, who has lived at the residence for six years, told News 2 he woke up to fire alarms going off. The fire originated in his daughter’s room and she jumped out of the window to escape the flames.
“When we got out of the house, I came downstairs to where the bedroom is. I was just screaming her name, calling her, calling her, and I didn’t see her, I was worried, then I seen her coming up the street,” said Scales.
Her mother was taken to an area hospital for treatment to burns on her hands.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family with finding shelter.
No additional information was immediately released.
