NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Nashville Predators have re-signed center Ryan Johansen to a new contract.
The team announced Johansen signed an eight-year deal during a press conference Friday at Bridgestone Arena. The deal is worth $64 million.
David Poile, GM of the team, said it is the longest deal the Predators have ever given out.
Johansen remarked today is also his dog’s birthday. The player turns 25 on Monday.
“It’s probably one of the best days of my life,” Johansen said during the short news conference. “There’s no better place to play in the NHL right than Nashville.”
Johansen was a big part of the team’s 2016 playoff run until he was injured in the Western Conference Final series against Anaheim.
With Johansen re-signing with the team, the only offseason question that remains is if Mike Fisher will return next season.
