19-year-old found stabbed to death on Murfreesboro Pike; Man arrested

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 19-year-old man was found stabbed to death near Murfreesboro Road in South Nashville early Thursday morning.

Joshua Taylor was located near the Gold Star Market, at 974 Murfreesboro Pike, around 2:20 a.m. Metro police say he was stabbed int he neck nearby behind A & H Auto but ran to the market’s parking lot where he died.

Metro police say they quickly learned a possible suspect was a homeless camp near Kermit Drive.

According to a press release, the officers found Mitchell Tarver, 49, at the camp and saw blood on him. He was detained and subsequently arrested.

An investigation reportedly shows the two men had a physical altercation when Tarver pulled a knife and stabbed him.

Police say a folding knife that is believed to be the murder weapon was recovered.

Tarver is jailed in lieu of $500,000 bond

Murfreesboro Road was closed in both directions while detectives investigated, but both lanes of travel have since reopened.
