ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WKRN) – At least one person was critically injured in a crash in Antioch Thursday morning.

Metro police said a car was headed north on Bell Road when it made a left onto Mossdale Drive and was hit by a truck around 8 a.m.

The car traveled down the road about 35 yards before it went off into the woods. Two people were transported to area hospitals for treatment, one with critical injuries.

The driver of the car fled the scene on foot and officers canvassed the area.

That driver has yet to be found, and police believe they could be seriously injured.

According to authorities, the car could have been involved in several hit-and-run crashes earlier and was traveling at a high rate of speed on Bell Road beforehand.

The intersection, which is near Nashboro Village, was closed as Metro police remained on the scene to investigate. Drivers were encouraged to avoid the area.

The fatal traffic team has been called to the scene to aid in the investigation. Further details weren’t immediately known.
