NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Three teenagers were taken into custody after a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 40 early Thursday morning.

The suspects matched a description of three people wanted for an armed robbery of a cab driver outside an apartment building on Glastonbury Road Wednesday evening.

A patrolling officer noticed the suspects getting gas at the Shell station on Vultee Boulevard and followed them to Interstate 40 where they took off at a high rate of speed.

Metro police attempted to stop the vehicle in the eastbound lanes of I-40 at Briley Parkway around 2:15 a.m.

Officers reportedly pursued the vehicle at speeds reaching 100 mph until the car was stopped by spike strips near the Old Hickory Boulevard exit.

The spike strips slowed the vehicle and it came to a stop near the Wilson County line.

Metro police took the three teens, ages 15 and 17, into custody at the scene and recovered a sawed off shotgun from the car.

The teens have been charged in Juvenile Court with aggravated robbery.
