Portland middle school teacher accused of sexting minor

PORTLAND, Tenn. (WKRN) – Police have arrested a Sumner County teacher accused of sexting a minor.

Joseph Roberts, 27, is charged with solicitation of a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Authorities told News 2 the Department of Children’s Services alerted police to the alleged incident, which reportedly happened several months ago.

Roberts, who lives in Cross Plains, turned himself into police on Thursday. He has been suspended without pay.

The 27-year-old most recently worked at Portland East Middle, and he has been employed by the district for three years.
