NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A fire severely damaged a home in northeast Nashville near Briley Parkway on Thursday, displacing a family with six children.

The blaze was reported just after 10:30 a.m. on Doverside Drive, not far from Brick Church Pike, when the fire department says multiple calls came in.

District Fire Chief Larry Jackson told News 2 heavy smoke was visible when they arrived.

Jackson said the fire started in the basement but rose throughout the home, affecting even the attic.

“It was difficult the way the house was cut up and once we got into the basement, it was pretty cluttered,” Chief Jackson said. “They were able to knock the fire down there pretty well.”

Six children and adults who live there are now without a home as it was left uninhabitable. Luckily, none of them were injured.
