MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Saturday afternoon fire caused heavy damage to a Murfreesboro home.
It happened around 1:45 p.m. at a home in the 300 block of Chamberlain Drive.
When firefighters arrived to the scene, they saw smoke coming from the house. Upon entry into the home, they learned that the fire was actually coming from a floored attic space.
They then pulled down the attic access door and found heavy fire in the attic.
Firefighters were able to quickly put out the fire; however, half the home was damaged.
No one was home at the time. The residents are displaced, but do not need assistance from the Red Cross, according to the Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department.
Fire officials will perform a routine investigation into the fire.
