Driver killed in head-on collision in Maury County

MAURY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – A driver was killed in a head-on collision in Maury County early Friday morning.

The crash occurred on Highway 431 near near Bear Creek Pike around 6:45 a.m., closing the highway between Bear Creek and Kedron Road.

Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) told News 2 a minivan was traveling south on 431 and veered into the northbound lane. It then hit a truck head-on.

Trooper Chris Hannah described the crash as a “violent impact.”

“It’s never a good time to have a fatality crash, but this time of year with the holidays approaching, it makes it even worse,” said Trooper Hannah.

The driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been released.

The driver of the truck was transported to an area hospital for treatment. An update on the victim’s condition wasn’t immediately known.
