NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Another tough road game and win for the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders Wednesday night as they beat Belmont 79-66.
The Blue Raiders opened the game on a 13-0 run led by Reggie Upshaw, who tied for a game high with 21 points.
The Belmont Bruins, who suffered just their sixth loss at the Curb Center in the last six years, made a run in the second half, taking the lead around the 12-minute mark when Evan Bradds scored two of his 21 points for a 50-49 lead.
But the Blue Raiders locked down for the final 12 minutes after receiving seven votes in the AP top 25 earlier this week, outscoring Belmont 30-16 over the final minutes of the game.
JaCorey Williams chipped in 18 points and 11 rebounds while Giddy Potts had 17 points going 3-4 from downtown for the Blue Raiders.
Four of the Bruins’ five starters finished in double figures with Taylor Barnette scoring 14 points to go along with Bradds 21.
Middle Tennessee improves to 10-1 on the season with a 3-0 record on the road while Belmont moves to 4-4 overall.
