HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Hundreds of Tennessee children took over the Walmart in Hendersonville Tuesday night for a massive shopping spree.
The event was hosted by Christmas 4 Kids, which raised more than $100,000 for this year’s event.
Four-hundred underprivileged kids from 29 different Middle Tennessee schools were allowed to spend $150 each and also a free winter coat.
Each child was paired up with a volunteer to help them check items off their lists.
Country music duo Dave and Whitney were among the chaperones.
“That’s what makes the world a better place I think, giving a little at a time, day after day,” Whitney told News 2. “And to me it just makes me feel better.”
Before the shopping spree, the kids were treated to dinner and a Christmas party hosted by Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Then, they were chauffeured to the Walmart on dozens of entertainers’ luxury tour buses.
