Missing 72-year-old man with dementia found safe

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Metro police said a missing 72-year-old man has been found safe.

Lonnie Richard Smith, who has dementia, was believed to have walked away from his Wakefield Drive home in South Nashville Monday afternoon.

Police said Tuesday afternoon the 72-year-old was found earlier in the day in good condition in a wooded-area near the Ellington Agricultural Center.

According to a press release, personnel from the Office of Emergency Management found Smith with the help of non-aggressive tracking dogs.
