2 injured in east Nashville apartment fire

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Fire officials are investigating an early morning apartment fire in east Nashville.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. at the Marina Apartments on North 9th Street.

Two officers spotted the smoke and responded to the scene.

Crews at the scene told News 2 the fire started in a kitchen and was contained to one unit.

Two people had to be taken to a local hospital.

Crews told News 2 one woman was trapped inside a bedroom but the two officers at the scene were able to pull her out. She was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition.

A firefighter was injured after his mask came off, but he is alright.
