COLUMBIA, Tenn. (WKRN) – Columbia police say what they believed to be a theft of donations for a Toys for Tots fundraiser was really just a misunderstanding.

Authorities initially reported that the theft took place on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at the Walgreens located at 805 Nashville Highway.

They stated the woman reportedly walked in empty-handed and left with a garbage bag of toys. Officials said the bag contained 12 to 15 donated items.

During their investigation, Columbia police discovered that the woman was a legitimate representative of Toys for Tots and was simply collecting the toys from several drop off locations.
