Body identified as missing Murfreesboro woman; First-degree murder charges filed

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – First-degree murder warrants were filed in the case of a missing Murfreesboro woman who was found dead Thursday afternoon.

Police said Friday they are searching for Romolo Hernandez-Mayo, also known as Romolo Hernandez-Mayorga, who is wanted in the case.

He is accused of killing Francisca Gomez-Cordero, 33, who was reported missing earlier this week on Monday. Police previously told News 2 there was an obvious crime scene inside her Cypress Drive apartment, along with evidence that led investigators to believe a homicide may have occurred.

Authorities say her body was found just outside Murfreesboro city limits near Elam Mill Road. Her cause of death has not been released, and DNA results are still pending.

Before the murder charges were announced, Hernandez-Mayo was already wanted on a nationwide extradition warrant for theft of the victim’s vehicle, a Nissan Rogue.
