NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Thursday for a new parking garage in downtown Nashville.
The 12-story complex, known as the 5th Avenue of the Arts Parking Garage, replaces a surface parking lot at Fifth Avenue North and Church Street.
The complex features 1,010 parking spaces and 8,000 square feet of retail space.
The Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (MDHA) is hopeful the space will be leased sometime in 2017.
“Fifth Avenue of the Arts is fast becoming a premier destination in the Downtown neighborhood, and having more parking will improve the experience for residents, workers and visitors alike,” said Mayor Megan Barry.
Several other elected officials were on hand for the ceremony with Mayor Barry, including former Mayor Karl Dean and Vice Mayor David Briley.
