SPRING HILL, Tenn. (WKRN) – Photos of a Middle Tennessee boy with Santa are making their way around the internet.
Alison Epps told News 2 “the response has been so amazing,” and she “had no idea what an impact his photos would have on people.”
You see, the photos of her 6-year-old son James and Santa aren’t the ones you usually see this time of year.
James became overwhelmed when visiting Santa at the Restoration Community Church in Spring Hill, which was specifically for children with special needs. Epps says her son was born premature at just 22 weeks and six days.
It’s the second year in a row they’ve gone to the event, and Epps says James got a little overwhelmed after they prepped him for the visit all week.
“At one point he was under the Christmas tree,” she told ABC News. “But, Santa got right down on the floor to see if he could make James more comfortable.”
The little boy did indeed slowly get more comfortable, and Epps calls the outcome of the pictures “pretty perfect.”
“They seem to have brought a lot of joy to a lot of people,” she told News 2.
Restoration Community Church puts on the event, “Santa’s Special Visit,” each year. It’s designed to ease children with special needs into visits with the jolly man by ridding of line-waiting, making it possible to make appointments, and having a quiet room for the children who need some space.
“It was wonderful to have such a positive experience with our son and make Christmas memories we will always treasure,” Epps told News 2.
The photos were taken by local photography Jennifer Arnwine Photography based near Spring Hill.
