NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Tennessee Volunteers hit 16 three-point field goals, blowing out Presbyterian 90-50 Tuesday night in Knoxville.
The 16 threes are Volunteer record under head coach Rick Barnes. A pair of freshman led the way with Lamont Turner hitting seven and scoring 24 and Jordan Bowden hitting five on his way to 21 points.
For the game, Tennessee hit 16 of 33 from beyond the arc for 48.5 percent. They also took care of the basketball, only turning it over seven times.
The Volunteers controlled the game all night. When Presbyterian cut the lead to 50-41 with just over 12 minutes to play, Tennessee responded with a 23-0 run on their way to the 40-point rout.
Tennessee improves to 4-3 with the victory.
