KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The nation’s top ranked high school football player is headed to Tennessee.
Five-star offensive tackle Trey Smith from Jackson, Tennessee, verbally committed to the University of Tennessee Tuesday afternoon.
Smith is 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 310 pounds. He is ranked No. 1 overall by ESPN.
He picked Tennessee over Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, Ole Miss, Florida State and Auburn.
Moments after the announcement Butch Jones tweeted only two words, “Go Vols!!!”
Jones has been under fire since his Volunteers finished a disappointing season at 8-4 after a loss at Vanderbilt.
