Vanderbilt Univ. collects donations for victims of Sevier County wildfire

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Vanderbilt University will be accepting donations to help those families affected by the devastating wildfire in Gatlinburg last week.

According to a tweet, donations will be collected during Monday night’s women’s basketball game against Tulane University and again during the men’s game on Tuesday night against High Point University.

Fans can drop off winter jackets and new, unopened toys.

Fourteen people were killed in the Sevier County wildfire that began last week and burned thousands of acres.

More than 130 others were hurt and a total of 1,684 structures were damaged or destroyed in the wildfire. Click here for an interactive map that shows structure damage.
