NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Nashville has seen three deadly shootings over the last 24 hours.

News 2 spoke with a Metro Nashville Police Department captain about the violence.

“Anytime there’s violent crime– and it is cyclical, especially as you approach the holidays, you have more robberies, you have tensions higher, you’re going to have a spike in that crime and the department is very conscious of that and of course, the department diverts resources to victim intervention in that way,” explained Captain Chris Taylor.

He continued, “The precincts will have more patrols out and obviously they’re going to be putting all the resources they need to through investigative means to address these homicides.”

Captain Taylor went on to say that drugs or other substances are involved in the majority of shootings.
