NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 19-year-old man was shot and killed in the parking lot of a Nashville restaurant Friday night.

It happened at 5:30 p.m. at Swett’s, which is located at 2725 Clifton Ave.

The victim, identified as Moniteon Smith, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later died.

Police say the shooting had nothing to do with Swett’s Restaurant, and the employees were very cooperative.

Authorities say Smith drove a Nissan Altima into the lot and waited approximately ten minutes before a gold four door sedan parked next to him at 5:30 p.m.

Smith got into the passenger side of the car when an apparent struggle ensued.  The passenger door opened and Smith fell to the ground.

The suspect car fled on Clifton Avenue.

Authorities are now searching for the vehicle involved in the shooting.

Anyone with information about Smith’s murder is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
