NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Tennessee Titans star Marcus Mariota joined Steve McNair and Warren Moon as the only quarterbacks in franchise history to be named AFC Offensive Player of the Month.
Mariota was nothing short of sensational throwing for 1,124 yards, 11 TD’s, only two INTs and sizzling 115.0 passer rating in four games. Over that four-game stretch, he was No. 1 in passer rating, yards and touchdowns.
Center Ben Jones has been very impressed with what he’s seen in his first 12 games with the franchise.
“Marcus is playing great. He’s doing what we all thought he was going to do this year, great composure, guy you trust with the ball at all times and he’s making plays.”
Tackle Taylor Lewan says Mariota’s been doing it for a longer than just November.
“I’m very impressed with him these last nine games. I’ve been impressed with him this entire season; the way he handles himself. When he was being critiqued by the media and other people for his play, he came up and did what he was supposed to do.”
For the season, Mariota has already thrown for 2,998 yards, 25 TDs and has a passer rating of 101.9. With two more yards, he’ll be the first Titans QB since Matt Hasselbeck to throw for 3,000 yards, and he’s the first team quarterback to throw 25 TDs in a season since the franchise moved to Nashville.
