SMYRNA. Tenn. (WKRN) – School Resource Officers have determined that no actual threat was made against Stewarts Creek High School via social media.

“All possible leads have ended with no threats being made,” said SRO Captain Barry Hendrixson.

According to a release, early Wednesday morning authorities learned about the alleged “inappropriate comments” posted on social media.

Additional SROs were sent to the school Wednesday morning as a precaution and the school was placed on a short lockdown until around 9:30 a.m.

SROs searched the school and did not find anything that caused alarm.

Earlier in the day, Rutherford County Schools spokesman James Evans said a student reported seeing a threat on Instagram.

“In the weeks prior, students attended a cyber-bulling lecture and that’s how the reporting student knew how to handle the situation and how to report the information,” explained SRO Capt. Barry Hendrixson.

Additional information was not immediately released.
