2nd group of Murfreesboro firefighters headed to Sevierville

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – A second group of firefighters is headed to Sevierville, Tennessee, from the Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department.

The second crew of 15 will rotate with firefighters who have been on the ground since Monday night. They arrived in East Tennessee Wednesday afternoon to the first wave could return home.

The fire engine and ladder trucks will remain with the second team to be used to battle the many structure fires that are still ongoing.

Along with the 15 firefighters, two chief officers, Assistant Chief Kaye Jernigan, and Commander Swann are also responding to aid with incident management.

“I am proud of our firefighters who have stepped forward to assist Gatlinburg and we are glad we could support the efforts to mitigate this unfortunate situation!” said Chief Mark Foulks.
