NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Vanderbilt Commodores made easy work of Tennessee State Tuesday night in Memorial Gym, routing the Tigers 83-59.
TSU entered the game 6-0 and had an opportunity to make a statement against an SEC team, but instead it was the Dores speaking the loudest with their best performance of the season.
Matthew Fisher-Davis led the Vandy attack with 22 points. Fisher-Davis had 16 at the half as Vanderbilt ran away from the Tigers early leading by 21 points at the break 43-22.
The Tigers could never make a game of it in the second half because they could never slow down a Commodore offense that shot 54 percent for the game and hit 10 three point field goals. Jeff Roberson scored 13 for Vandy, while Riley LaChance and Luke Kornet also both hit double figures scoring 12.
Ken’Darrius Hamilton led Tennessee State with 19 points.
Vanderbilt improves to 4-3 with the win and the Dores face Minnesota from the Big 10 Saturday.
