NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The man driving a school bus that crashed and killed 6 children in Chattanooga appeared in court Tuesday.

Johnthony Walker is charged with 6 counts of vehicular homicide.

Lawyer: Driver likely to plead not guilty in fatal bus crash

Federal investigators say Walker was not on his designated bus route when the accident happened and was going well over the speed limit.

Walker’s attorney says he’s an innocent man.

“As he sits in the jail right now, Mr. Walker is an innocent man. In the eyes of the law he is an innocent man, and he will remain so until proven otherwise,” said his attorney in court.

Ultimately a judge delayed the preliminary hearing until December 15.
