MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – News 2 has learned a Rutherford County deputy who responded to Sheriff Robert Arnold’s home over Labor Day weekend has resigned.

Sergeant Todd Hammond will leave the department at the end of the week. He was one of two deputies who went to Sheriff Arnold’s home the night he is accused of assaulting his wife in their Murfreesboro home.

Hammond allegedly did not file a report that night. It’s unclear if his resignation is related.

He has been with the department for six years.

Sheriff Arnold remains at the center of an unrelated case involving e-cigarettes being sold at the Rutherford County jail. He remains jailed in Kentucky after a federal magistrate ruled he violated the conditions of his pre-trial release.
