CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WKRN) – A funeral service was held Saturday for a 9-year-old girl killed in a bus crash in Chattanooga this week.
Family and friends gathered at Redemption Point Church in Chattanooga to remember Cor’Dayja Jones.
The fourth grade Woodmore Elementary School student sang in the children’s choir at her church and left a lasting impression on those around her.
“She was the most genuine child you could ever meet. You know when people say they leave everyone smiling? They say it, but for Cor’dayja, it really meant that. When she left a room, people were always smiling,” said Moriah Stanley.
Cor’Dayja was one of six children who died after their school bus crashed on the way home from school Monday.
Police have charged the bus driver, Johnthony Walker, with vehicular homicide. Federal authorities say he was not driving on the designated bus route when the crash happened.
News 2 also learned that students and administrators raised concerns about Walker’s behavior behind the wheel weeks before the crash.
