“We were inside and my mom just started cooking. My sister comes out here first and she is like, ‘Oh my God, the neighbor’s house is on fire,’” explained Landon Cantarutti, who lives nearby.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, the townhome was engulfed in flames. They were able to contain the fire to two units.

No one was hurt, but both homes are a total loss. Cantarutti says he understands what the families are going through.

“It’s sad. I have been through it. Our house caught on fire a couple years ago, and I know how it feels. We lost everything.”

The Red Cross was called in to help the families.

A neighbor told fire officials the blaze started as a kitchen fire. The exact cause remains under investigation.
