NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – As many Middle Tennessee residents head to the stores for Black Friday deals, others are heading to Christmas tree stands to get a start on holiday decorations.
Ken Hinman is shopping for the perfect Christmas tree, and his strategy, like most shoppers on this day, is simple: get there before everyone else.
“When you get out early you can pick the tree you want. One that does not have a lot of holes. It is the pick of the litter if you will,” he said.
Shopping for trees early might be a good idea, according to Jim McLeod, the owner of Santa’s Christmas Trees.
He said there will be a lot of people out Friday trying to find that perfect tree.
“Today historically is always the busiest day. We do more volume the Friday after Thanksgiving than any other day of the season so we are expecting a big rush of customers today,” said McLeod. “Everyone is just ready to go. Thanksgiving is over and everyone is ready to decorate for Christmas. So over the next 10 days we will do over 65 percent of our volume.”
Hinman said it’s a family tradition to get a Christmas tree on the day after Thanksgiving.
