STEWART COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – An 18-year-old was killed early Friday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Stewart County.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), the accident happened just after 3:10 a.m. on Highway 232, which was shut down while authorities investigated.
A preliminary report indicates Cydney Jahnke, 21, was driving northbound when he failed negotiate a curve to the left.
His Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck then left the road and went down a small embankment, causing the passenger’s side to hit a tree.
The report says the impact then caused the truck to overturn, hit a second tree, and land on its roof.
Jonathan Cottrell, 18, was killed the crash. Jahnke and two other passengers, ages 13 and 15, were injured.
According to the THP, none of them were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The traffic report also indicates criminal charges are pending. Further details weren’t immediately released.
