Man rescued from apartment fire south of downtown Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Firefighters in south Nashville rescued a man from his burning apartment unit near downtown Nashville early Thursday morning.

It happened in the 400 block of Humphreys Street near Fort Negley around 4 a.m.

Officials said a neighbor smelled smoke and called 911.

The fire was contained to one vacant unit of the quadroplex.

Fire crews say the man inside was taken to Vanderbilt University Center to be treated for smoke inhalation. He is expected to be OK.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire at this time.

No additional information was immediately released.
