MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) – Now that holiday shopping season is upon us, the city of Mt. Juliet is making sure people know alternate ways to access the Providence shopping area.
The South Mt. Juliet Road corridor near Providence Marketplace is highly trafficked. To alleviate some congestion, Mt. Juliet’s Public Works department has added a new timing plan to the traffic signals, which will go into effect Thursday evening.
An adaptive signal upgrade project is also in the works, which is a long-term solution to help with traffic congestion. However, the project will not be completed until after the Thanksgiving holiday.
Alternate routes to the Providence area include:
- Interstate 40 to Exit 226C (primary and less-frequented exit for Providence Marketplace)
- Interstate 40 to Exit 229 to Beckwith Road to Belinda Parkway
- Interstate 40 to Exit 229 to Beckwith Road to S. Rutland Road to Providence Way
- Central Pike to S. Rutland Road to Providence Way
