Man shot during shootout in La Vergne intersection; Suspect wanted

LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A young man was injured Tuesday afternoon during a shootout that took place in a busy La Vergne intersection.

Police told News 2 it happened just before 4 p.m. at Nir Shreibman Boulevard and Murfreesboro Road.

Two cars were exchanging shots with each other when one man was hit. According to authorities, he got out of one of the cars, causing it roll into the intersection and hit another turning on Waldron Road.

The victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.

A suspect was later identified as 27-year-old Joshua Simmons. He is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, 210 pounds with a star tattoo under his left eye.

La Vergne police said Simmons has multiple active warrants and released a photograph of Simmons’ vehicle.
