20-year-old hit, killed on I-40 West; Driver sought

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 20-year-old was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 40 West Monday afternoon.

Metro police say Alvaro Bartlett was riding with his mother near Briley Parkway when she thought she heard something fall off her car.

Bartlett’s mom pulled over onto the shoulder before he got outside and walked into the interstate, presumably to get whatever fell off the car.

Authorities say that’s when a yellow pickup truck with grey primer spots hit the 20-year-old.

The driver did not stop an continued driving west.

Bartlett was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.
