Man dies after home catches fire in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 76-year-old man was found dead inside his home by Montgomery County emergency crews responding to a fire at the residence.

Crews responded to the residence located on the 4200 block of Highway 41A South at 12:57 p.m. Friday.

When they arrived, crews found a female resident of the home outside. They were notified the male homeowner was still inside and went inside to find him.

John Reeves was found unresponsive in the kitchen and was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

Authorities say the fire began in the front of the home, but the actual cause is still under investigation.

East Montgomery Volunteer Fire, St. Bethlehem Volunteer Fire, Montgomery County Rescue Squad, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County EMS and Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department all responded to the call.
