NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A tribute was held Sunday night for country music legend Jean Shepard.
Stars gathered at The Nashville Palace to sing tunes that Shepard was known for.
Those in attendance included Lorrie Morgan, Jeannie Seely, and Connie Smith.
Grand Ole Opry announcer Eddie Stubbs shared a message he thought Shepard would have given to Sunday night’s crowd.
“She would say, ‘God bless you…I love you. Thank you for supporting real country music, and don’t forget to support traditional country music because that’s the best kind there is.'”
Shepard passed away on Sept. 23 at the age of 82.
She was considered a pioneer for women in country music, paving the way for artists such as Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette.
