NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – After throwing for 298 yards and four touchdowns against the Green Bay Packers, Marcus Mariota has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week.

The award is an individual honor, but it says just as much about the Titans as a team.

The NFL weekly awards are often given to players who are on teams trending upward, and with four wins in the last six games, the Titans are starting to get some recognition.

“I mean for us to see Marcus up there, that’s huge for us, you know. The whole line’s playing well, we’re giving him time to get his passes off and do his thing, so we take that as a plus for us, too,” said tackle Jack Conklin.

“I mean, it shows that we’re getting the attention that we need. He’s a guy who’s been taking pride in his craft and in his work and improving week in and week out. He’s a guy who’s leading this team in a great way, in a way that a lot of people didn’t really believe in,” said Jurrell Casey, defensive lineman.

“Everybody in this locker room believed in him and he knew we believed in him, and we just keep on fighting, and he’s just been getting on a roll these last couple weeks, and I think he really deserved the honors that he’s been getting,” Casey continued.

“You know, guys like Delanie and DeMarco and those five guys up front and the receivers making plays, you know, I’m really just kind of a result of that, and really that honor should go to those guys and really they deserve a lot of credit,” said Mariota.

This is the third time in his career that Mariota has won Offensive Player of the Week. The only other Titans players with more are Warren Moon with six and Steve McNair with four.
