Man wanted for questioning in East Nashville stabbing taken into custody

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Detectives have taken a man believed to know something about a stabbing in east Nashville into custody

A man was stabbed inside his own apartment on Russell Street early Saturday morning.

Police say the 24-year-old victim’s roommate heard him yell out around 3:20 a.m. and found him at the bottom of a stairway, critically injured.

Ralph Martin Jr., 51, was developed as a possible suspect. An investigation led to his arrest Thursday.

A registered ex-con for burglary, he had outstanding warrants for auto burglary, aggravated assault, harassment, and theft of property. He is currently jailed on those charges.

The investigation into his involvement in the stabbing remains active and ongoing.

The 24-year-old victim remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition.
