NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Springfield High School marching band won the 2016 March 2 the Top contest.

On Tuesday the band was presented with $2,000 in grant money from Old Hickory Credit Union.

Their band director says that money will be put to good use.

“We’re going to be spending it on new instruments, new uniforms. The band program has tripled in size the last three years and we’re really excited to spend this money as our program grows.”

Springfield High School racked up more than 8,000 votes in the contest.
