NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Triple A projects more than 48 million people will travel 50 miles or more for Thanksgiving this year.
That’s one million more than last year and the most since 2007.
For most of us, it’s going to be a road trip since gas is the cheapest it has been in recent years with a national average of about $2.19.
And to make things even easier, the Tennessee Department of Transportation usually suspends their construction projects during holiday weekends.
If you plan to fly, a round trip ticket will put you out, on average, about $200.
The most popular travel destinations include:
- Las Vegas, Nevada
- San Francisco, California
- San Diego, California
- Orlando, Florida
- New York City, New York
- New Orleans, Louisiana
- Anaheim, California
- Fort Lauderdale, Florida
- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- Seattle, Washington
So it looks like this Thanksgiving is shaping up to be one well-traveled.
