NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Metro police are investigating an armed robbery in Hermitage.

It happened at the Mapco at the corner of Old Hickory Boulevard and Andrew Jackson Parkway just before midnight Monday.

Police told News 2 a white man wearing a black scarf over his face and a black hooded sweatshirt walked into the Mapco, pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded cash and cigarettes.

The clerk gave him a small amount of money and several packs of cigarettes.

The clerk is okay, but before the man left, he grabbed a jar of money on the counter full of money for a local children’s charity.

K-9 officers tried to track the suspect, but lost his scent because there’s so much traffic in and out of the 24-hour Mapco.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME.
