East Tennessee wildfire covers 150 acres, leads to voluntary evacuation

COCKE COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) – As a wildfire spread in Cocke County Saturday afternoon, Cocke County EMA director says two people have voluntarily evacuated their homes as US forest service crews work a fire on Neddy Mountain.

The fire is estimated to have already covered 150 acres.

Cocke County emergency personnel have advised residents to avoid the area to avoid unnecessary traffic.

Fire crews, fuel tankers, air crafts and ATVs are being used to fight the fire. The start of the blaze is unknown at this time.
