NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Tennessee Titans learned even more valuable information about running back Derrick Henry this week – he’s a fast healer.
Head coach Mike Mularkey announced after practice Friday Henry fully participated and will play Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.
Henry missed the Titans game in San Diego last week when he strained a calf muscle in pregame warmups.
His quick recovery was very encouraging to the head coach.
“Yeah, he’s a tough guy. Very encouraged by it, and I think it’s good for our football team,” Mularkey said.
DeMarco Murray also practiced once again despite a foot injury and will also be in the lineup Sunday, but clearly the depth added by the 2015 Heisman Trophy winner will be a big boost against Green Bay’s top ranked rushing defense.
The last time he stepped on the field against Jacksonville, Henry carried a career high 16 times for 60 yards and scored his first career TD. Mularkey says he has no reason to expect anything less this weekend.
“He’s played good every time he’s played. It wasn’t just Jacksonville. I mean, go back to San Diego preseason. He’s played good every time he’s played,” he said.
The Titans host the Packers Sunday at noon. Green Bay is a 2.5 point favorite.
