Nashville Fire frees #DrainpipeKitty, chases #ElectionDayParrot

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Nashville Fire Department had quite an Election Day, chasing after a parrot and freeing a cat from a drainpipe.

Fire officials had fun with the less-than-usual house calls on Twitter when their adventures began at 12:15 p.m.

We, too, believe in you Election Day Parrot.

It wasn’t too long after that the fire department got yet another call about a pet. This time it was a cat stuck in a drainpipe.

Officials said the cat climbed into a third-story gutter, fell to the ground, and then became stuck in the pipe.

#DrainpipeKitty’s real name is Thomas Jefferson, by the way. “Not joking,” the department said.

They said the owner, shown below, is J. Kline, president of Watkins College. His first words to his cat, the fire department says, were, “What were you thinking?”

Hopefully #ElectionDayParrot gets to have a happy reunion, too. We’ll keep you posted if we hear anything.
