NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A woman’s partially decomposed body was found by a man Saturday in East Nashville.
Officials on the scene told News 2 the body was found in a dry creek bed behind a group of homes in the 1300 block of Sunnymeade Drive around 2 p.m.
The street was blocked with crime scene tape Saturday as police investigated, focusing especially in an area behind a gazebo and shed.
Detectives also went door to door looking for clues.
No identification was found and efforts to identify the woman through her fingerprints were unsuccessful.
The Medical Examiner will determine her cause of death and make a positive identification. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
Anyone with information about the woman’s identity or circumstances surround her death is asked to contact Metro police at 615-862-7525 or Crime Stoppes at 615-74-CRIME.
Mary Alice Bernal described the end of her street as a quiet spot.
“It’s kind of dark, it’s a dead end. We’ve not seen anybody up or down the street, no weird cars, no weird action,” she told News 2.
As a coordinator for the Cooper Creek cleanup, Bernal is shocked to hear that her neighbor found a body.
“You just don’t ever see anything. It’s really unimaginable to be honest with you.”
Bernal has lived on Sunnymeade for more than a decade. She says her neighbors are all close-knit and vigilant.
“We know all of our neighbors. We are friends with them, they are so nice. We love this street,” she explained.
“I can’t imagine. I feel sorry for whoever is missing someone, because it is really awful. I really hope they solve this very, very quickly,” Bernal stated.
